120 Volt LED Rope Light Requires a Converter Cable - Why?

LED’s require DC voltage.  Our patented converter cable provides conversion of the
120 Volt Line Voltage to power the LED Rope Light.  Unlike other manufacturers, our
in line converter cable eliminates the flicker of the LED’s often found with other 120 Volt
LED products
.

12 Volt Comes In AC or DC - What’s the difference?

The 12 volt LED rope light is the same - it is the power cord that makes the difference. In
12 Volt DC, it uses a straight power cord which will connect to a battery or 12 V DC source.
If you will be running 12 volt LED AC on a 12 volt transformer, then you need to have a power
cord that has a converter in line.  This smoothes out the ripple from the 12 volt AC and
prevents flicker.  Choose based upon how you plan to power it
.

How does the brightness compare to incandescent?

You will find that the brightness is about the same, color to color of the LED rope
light and the incandescent rope light.  The current (wattage) is alot less, but the
lumen (brightness) is approximately the same
.

How come it is so expensive compared to regular rope light?

The main cost is the LED.  Now that they are significantly brighter and available
in colors we have never had before, they are expensive to produce.  In addition,
there is a need to match the LED’s within a rope light run to give a uniform look
and color.  The production cost of the LED and the materials that make up the
LED are the primary cost factor.  The value is in the low current and long life
.

What are the main reasons to choose LED over Incandescent?

Several reasons - the current draw is 7 times less, which means you save money on
electricity; additionally the life expectancy is four times longer, which means you won’t
have to replace the lighting as often.  And lastly, the color is another reason.  The LED
rope light has a clear PVC covering and the color of the LED produces very unique and
beautiful colors
.

What is coming in the future?

LED lighting will dominate the lighting world.  It has already been recognized as a low energy
lighting source.  Platinum Lighting Inc is offering LED rope light in standard and mini versions
along with LED flexible neon, which will replace the glass neon as we have known. No longer
will we have to deal with high voltages, gasses and glass to provide sign age and decorative
neon lighting.
